Webinar Metrics: A Practical KPI Framework

The right webinar metrics depend on the job of the event. A product demo, customer training session and top-of-funnel educational webinar should not share an identical scoreboard.

Registration metrics

Measure registrations, conversion rate and acquisition source. Add cost metrics for paid promotion.

Attendance metrics

Attendance rate and viewing duration help explain whether registrants prioritized the live event and stayed engaged.

Engagement metrics

Poll responses, questions, resource clicks and calls to action can reveal interest, but interpret them in context.

Outcome metrics

Define the downstream action: trial, demo, purchase, meeting, activation, course completion or another meaningful result.

Use ratios carefully

A high percentage on a tiny sample can mislead. Track absolute numbers and rates together, especially when comparing events of different sizes.
